Our Leadership

 

Rev. Dr. Steve Locke is our Pastor and Head of Staff. He has a wealth of experience in counseling, teaching and community leadership. After being called by God at the age 21 Pastor Steve was led to study with Francis Schaeffer in Switzerland, with his wife Chris. Upon his return he entered Fuller Seminary, in Pasadena where he received a Master of Divinity Degree. Over the next few years Chris and Steve started a family while Steve began his ministry as a pastor and hospital chaplain. By the mid 1980’s Chris and Steve were parents of three children--Justin, Nathan and Ashley. Justin is 31 and The Disaster Relief Coordinator for United Nations in the South Pacific. Nathan is Admissions and Curriculum Counselor for Ashford College and Ashley graduated this year from San Francisco State University with a degree in Communications. All of them have the same spirit of service and commitment to educational pursuits, while maintaining their spiritual centeredness, as does Pastor Steve and Chris.

 

While Pastor Steve’s first love is his work as a pastor he has also enjoyed teaching theology in seminaries, as well as engaging in personal and marriage counseling opportunities and working with community organizations. He has sat on community boards throughout his ministry and has organized a lecture series on “Religion in America” at Stanislaus State University. Bringing people together through the grace of Christ for peacemaking and understanding is something that Pastor Steve loves to do and where he finds confirmation of his gifts as a thoughtful and compassionate Christian thinker and pastor.
