Memberships
Why Become a Member? The Presbyterian Church is one of the oldest Protestant Denominations in the world. Our heritage dates back to 1520 when the city of Geneva, Switzerland asked a young man, John Calvin, to come and be their pastor. During his 30 years in that city John Calvin was able to transform their religious and political structures into a living reality of democracy and a new Christian expression of church life. What was exciting about this new transformation was the recreation of the church structure which provided people access to the decisions in the life of the church. We carry on this tradition even today through the elections of officers and leaders who have been called of God to live out this responsibility.
Becoming a member of our church allows you the opportunity to serve as an elder or deacon of the church. It also allows you to vote in our congregational meetings, making decisions to further the ministry of the church. Of course you don't need to become a member to participate all other areas in the life of the church. All avenues of church life are open to all who desire to serve and enjoy the fellowship of the community. You can sing in the choir, be on a committee, help minister to the homeless and enjoy the fellowship of various groups in the church.
